This is (more or less) exactly what I have been waiting for. I actually was ranting on just this subject only a couple of days ago. Apparently the internet was listening.

Yeah we need this. For every new version of a major mobile OS that comes out, there is the same band of idiot neophiles who declare that physical keyboards are truly obsoleted-- never mind that they said the same thing the same time last year, this time they mean it.
I just switched from a Droid 2 to a Galaxy Nexus. The GN is a sweet piece of glass, but Swifkey/Swype/etc does not supplant tactile buttons.
Now if they can make that screen deform into a model M keyboard, I will love them forever.
