The term "The Mormon Whale-rape Story" made me look it up.

The link is the full story, as published by the author on the author's own website. He put it up for public mocking. The fact that he's since taken it down out of, presumably, gross embarassment does not behoove me to not link the full version he published.

To anyone who tells me book awards mean something: The Mormon Whale-Rape Story won a Nebula.

I read it when it won.

I was sad.

It's like The Eye Of Argon won an Oscar!

I think it's better than some of this year's Hugo nominees, admittedly a low standard.

It's readable. Having a funny-sounding premise doesn't disqualify sf from anything.

I find it readable, with an interesting premise. Not the best short story I've ever read, but not dreckulous.

Of course they mean something! They mean people like to vote for their friends within their close-knit, inward-looking affinity circles.

Give me the Clarke Award or give me death!

I understand that you need some suspension of disbelief when reading science fiction, but a swale joining Mormonism? That's just preposterous. It makes me take the Lord's name in vain just thinking about it.
