...given the (mercifully) living counterexample I've met, I'm feeling an overwhelming urge to find an axe and an alibi right now. Excuse me.

Yeah -- my pregnancy almost killed me, twice. I am incredibly fortunate that both Kira and I survived and were (relatively) healthy in the end, but it was a very close call. I almost stroked out at one point -- my BP went up to 200-something over 100-something, and they wound up inducing labor early to save our lives.

So, yeah -- that guy can go right straight to hell. Along with all the people who have criticized Mikki for needing an abortion to save her life.

Our Bodies Ourselves has launched an Educate Congress campaign. It can't come at a better time.

I'd love to implant a few dozen embryos into that guy's body and see how long he lets them gestate.

I am reminded of a Tepper novel in which aliens arrived on earth and, wanting to give their offspring the best chance of coming to term without medical interference and being raised by socially prominent individuals in affluent family environments, implanted them in the bodies of a bunch of rich white very-loudly-pro-life male politicians.

(Not one of her better books, but oddly satisfying for some obscure reason. >.> )

I wish to read this. Could you provide an approximate title? I'd also be interested in a recommendation as to which novels are better.

Beaten to the Fresco title, but in terms of others: I loved A Plague of Angels, and while I've found Gibbon's Decline and Fall a bit unpolished on rereads it's a book I'm keeping around.

also: The Midwich Cuckoos by John Wyndham. Not implanted in males, unfortunately, but otherwise similar premise.
