Bought property in Dec 2012, planned to spend rest of life in beautiful NC mtns. The fact that it was known as the most progressive state in the South was also huge selling point... but the far Right swept the state government with well-funded friends, and they've been raining a shitstorm since January 2013. It's remarkable how much they've been working on dismantling all the things that made it a great place to live. They're currently working to starve the more liberal cities for revenue as punishment/payback and cutting any tax cuts for green energy (while leaving all things in for trad forms), and that's just today.

Being "the most progressive state in the South" is kinda like being "the tallest midget in the world." It's technically an accomplishment, but not really.

After living in Atlanta, GA for over a decade I was looking forward to less corrupt politics. Ah well.

Speaking of starving the liberals for revenue, apparently they're also trying to revive the poll tax, but only on college students.

Yes, I saw that. They've also tried to issue special pink IDs to those here on green cards, drastically decrease access to early voting, and decrease voting hours. Did I mention that today they were looking to decrease tax exemptions for green energy sources? It's unreal. They've been shoving through bills as fast as they can. I've never seen anything quite like it.

Just north of there in VA, our state AG seems to have also forgotten that no, the states don't get to ignore the fed. We lost that war once already...
