There was also a thing a month after the mooninite incident, where they took out a suspicious and dangerous device that turned out to be a traffic counter operated by the city.
I'm still living in hope that it's an accident. An improperly maintained propane tank at a hot dog stand, something like that.
EDIT: Whoops, I should have clicked the link to see the updates before saying that. A third explosion, and two more undetonated bombs: definitely not an accident.
There is no third explosion. What is being pointed to by the Boston PD as an explosion and confirmed incendiary device was an accidental mechanical fire in the equipment room of a library 14 miles away.
As for the "undetonated bombs", again, consider who's making that identification.
Aaaaand according to today's press conference from actual competent sources in the ATF and the Governor's office (http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/04/16/what-misinformation-did-the-local-press-conference-clear-up/), those "two more undetonated bombs" were in fact not bombs at all. Just "suspicious packages".
I'm not a big fan of taking anything Glenn Beck's blog says as credible, but it looks like real sources also agree (http://bostonherald.com/news_opinion/local_coverage/2013/04/officials_2_devices_caused_explosions_no_unexploded_devices)
Well, there's only so much political capital they could get out of three(?) deaths.
There was a similar case in Eastern Washington maybe six months ago that the FBI were looking in to, where explosives were found around the finish line of a race there.
Stories coming in of people who finished the race, then ran to the local hospital to donate blood.
If someone hit a football or a soccer game or something, I could see it more as a political target. This... well, someone just hates the very idea of a peaceful world.
It was Patriots Day, a local holiday celebrating the start of the war of Independence (when the revolting colonials had the temerity to run the British out of town); it was the day before a national action day for gun control (which has now been cancelled); it was the last day for Americans to send in their tax returns. Somehow, I don't think we're looking for bombers of the brown-skinned variety.
As a Brit who lived in London through most of the IRA bombing campaign there, my sympathies are with the people of Boston.

Date: 2013-04-15 09:04 pm (UTC)I talked to my mother. She sounded so calm. She got used to these things.
My 63-year old mother got used to this.
My mother got used to this.
Got used. To this.
I can't.
