Oh he walked that back rather quickly when his customer levels plummeted.

Another local restaurant tried it, by adding a surcharge for the terrible demands the local city were placing on him by forcing him to do something he ought to have been doing anyway and found his customer levels dropped dramatically.

Frankly, if you're an independent coffee shop chain in Seattle, you REALLY don't want to be looking for ways to get bad press. Ignoring the 800lb Gorilla there's another independent on the next corner who are looking to eat your lunch.

There coffee frankly isn't that good anyway.

Yeah, no, bullshit. He admitted in public to shortchanging his employees at the expense of his customers. He deserves to lose his job for that, like any employee would.

The fact that he owns the chain is secondary: He should not be "too big to fail".
