An open letter to the teabaggers of the world:

Snopes recently re-debunked yet another piece of teabagger wharrrgarble that opens "Would you please let me know if this is true or not? Thank you!".

I can not only answer that question based on the next four words, but provide you with the tools to get this answer yourself, next time, without needing to call me (or Snopes)!

Those next four words: "Barack Hussein Obama had...."

And you're done. Right there. See the "Hussein" in between "Barack" and "Obama"? BOOM, HEADSHOT, what the writer of that forwarded email is saying is definitely not true.

The More You Know!

Well, it is his middle name.... is this just one of those "Well, since they used it, they're trying to reinforce that he's NOT ONE OF US"?

Nobody says "Barack HUSSEIN Obama" if they don't mean "he's foreign like that Iraqi dude who done 9/11"

Yeah. I've noticed that a lot down here in the Deep South.

Only they pronounce it Hoooossein.

I pretty much assume all those letters are false. Every once in a while I'm surprised, but those are usually of the "some marginally distinguished retired person wrote a shockingly ill-informed racist homophobic isolationist American exceptionalist rah rah rah letter to a newspaper somewhere" variety.

Well, yes, but the point isn't that the letter is false, it's to give the "I wonder if this is false or not?" person the tools to determine for themselves that it's false, and "they're all false. There has never been a true teabagger wharrgarble" obviously isn't working.

Even Snopes isn't such a tool. Quoth my mother, when I told her that no, she was not going to have to get a microchip implanted in March because Obamacare, "Snopes has been known to have its own bias." (This reminds me, I should inquire if she's received her microchip implanting appointment letter yet.)

Well, yes, they're CANADIAN, and you know Canadians are damn near commies to begin with.

The problem is that so many of the TB persuasion believe that Snopes is a "lieberal" conspiracy, unlike Fox News, which is fair and balanced.

Another sure sign is "They want to violate the Constitution with this new law!!11!" or some such. I have a US Facebook friend who seems to be morphing into a teabagger. Last night he posted a link to some flaming garbage about how Federal authorities are trying to trample all over the First Amendment; apparently, because of a sexual harassment case at a Nebraska college, said college had been adviced to tighten up its code on sexual harassment to include verbal abuse and harassment. Which of course is a DENIAL of our INVIOLABLE RIGHT to FREE SPEECH !!!11!!
I fell very tempted to reply that it sounds a lot like the authorities are actually telling the college to uphold the tenth commandment - you know, the one where Holy Gawd Hisself tells you not to covet your neighbour's wife/ass; so does the Constitution therefore trump the Ten Commandments?
Is it evil of me to want to see heads asploding?
