He's now saying that he had a "schizophrenic episode" (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-25345262). A SA deaf spokewoman was interviewed about this last night. According to her, the "interpreter" had been used at ANC events before and had waved his arms about meaninglessly each time as well. So he must have been having an "episode" every time he got up in front of a crowd. Deaf people had kept complaining about him, but never got so much as a reply from the ANC. Either the ANC hold the disabled in contempt or he's on the payroll. Or both.
Or, they are doing what humans are prone to do whenever they find out that they've been swindled: refuse to admit it and hope it goes away on its own and everybody forgets about it. Needs no more sinister motivation than that; it is possible that whoever retained that jerk the first time made a note "never hire this guy again", but someone may have missed a memo.
Pretty sure that some heads are going to roll, though. Well-deservedly, too. That kind of shit should not fly.
