"Nature" editor Henry Gee is dumbass and dipshit and worthless excuse for a human being, attempts to "out" person who points out that Nature editor Henry Gee is dumbass and dipshit and worthless excuse for human being.

Dear Nature editor Henry Gee: Go fuck yourself. You're a worthless excuse for a human, and you bring disrepute to Nature.

Dear Nature: This is the kind of asshole you choose to represent yourselves? Seriously? And you're pretending to be a REAL science journal while letting this kind of dumbass write your PR for you?

Hooooly moly, that guy is having a spectacular meltdown on his Twitter account (https://twitter.com/HenryGeeBooks). I mean pure, classic internet rage meltdown. Threatening to sue the people criticizing him (and calling their criticisms "defaming", "bullying", and "trolling"), threatening to out other posters' identities, pining about the "psychological cost" his sensitive soul has paid for the criticisms, pulling the typical "YOU DON'T KNOW ME/It's all lies!/I am the only one telling the truth" spiel.

Incredible.

I'm probably expecting too much in hoping that this will torpedo his career with Nature. Seriously, Nature? This is your public face? You think this kind of behavior on the part of your editors is okay?

A peer reviewed science journal kinda rests on the people handling the anonymous peer-reviewing part not being doxing fuckwits, so I'd assume this will get him fired.

Cell reader myself, AKA the MCB journal that once had a cover illustrated by the JoJo's Bizarre Adventures mangaka.

I certainly hope it will, but apparently this guy is pretty deeply entrenched at Nature (20+ years associated with them). It can be hard to unseat folks who hold so much sway in an organization. "Old boy network" and all that.

I don't read Cell since it's not really my field, but haha, you can't just say something like that and not link to it! Link/cover/full story please? That sounds priceless.

Here's a tumblr with the cover (http://scienceshenanigans.tumblr.com/post/41638452371/ann-manga-artist-hirohiko-araki-has-drawn-the) and a rough explaination of what's being depicted in the picture, NIH public access version of the full paper is here (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2821330/).

Meanwhile, Nature's current issue has a picture of some birds flying in formation on it. /gratuitous snark

I seem to recall Gee being involved in some kind of douche-kerfuffle a couple years ago, maybe related to Nature's Futures thing?

Yeah, there was this, among other things iirc (http://all-geo.org/highlyallochthonous/2011/11/dear-nature-you-got-a-sexist-story-but-when-you-published-it-you-gave-it-your-stamp-of-approval-and-became-sexist-too/).
