All I'm saying is that if I were Larry Page, I think locating spammers and hiring hitmen to have them killed would be way easier and cheaper than cleaning up their spam in perpetuity. And it's not like he can't AFFORD it.
The mechanism of the end is not directly related to gmail's downtime, but from the superheating of LJ servers caused by users who have nothing to do but update their blogs.
