I am containing my rage.
It should have been Ralph Fiennes.

I was initially unhappy, but am getting more and more cautiously optimistic.

(Plus, that is a really cool shot of exactly how something behind a glass is distorted, and will doubtless prove useful at some later date.)

If the movie sucks, I am doubting it will be because of Keanu Reeves.

I don't blame Reeves. I blame Warner Bros. which has a habit of taking great characters and turning them into a steaming pile of shit with a liberal application of celluloid.

I do believe they managed not to this time. They changed things to accommodate the fact that they were working with a closed two-hour time frame instead of an indefinitely-running series and (I suspect) trying to make the movie accessible to people who didn't read the comics, but it was still very recognizably Constantine.

(Rachel Weisz's acting impressed me more than Keanu's, but I do think that was because she was called upon to portray rather more extreme emotions/reactions. He's good.)

While we're on the topic of the bitter jaded bastard... Was there ever, anywhere, a depiction of what happened in Newcastle (y'know, the event that put Constantine in the asylum for a bit)?

I haven't seen it yet, but hope to soon. I keep hearing good things. I've been in a constant state of bitchfest since I heard they were making JC an american.

As for Newcastle, I hope they mention it. It was important and set in motion much of JC's future problems.
And I love Nergal!

Honestly, the only time I noticed that was when he walked into a particular room and there was an American flag waving in stylish slomo on a TV screen. Aside from that, I could have happily forgotten it was set in the States, assumed London was slightly less cramped than I remembered it, and gone from there.

For the rest, I shall decline to comment and spare you spoilers.

What are you trying to imply?

What makes Constantine satanic?
