Minecraft Is Magic
Nerdy, cute, very well animated, and doesn't require that you know anything about My Little Pony (other than that it exists) or Katy Perry (apparently it's a parody of one of her songs?). Requires very minimal knowledge of minecraft, to wit "at night the monsters come, and some of them explode." There, now you know everything you need.

Extra thing I love about that video: Dude is all "my girlfriend is mining at night! I have to PROTECT her or she'll DIE!"
And, uh, he doesn't.
She's dodging the zombies and confusing the skeletons. And sure, he's taking out things going after her, and that makes it easier for her to mine longer without needing to fight or move on - but without him, she'd still be fine. And she's even got a perfectly workable plan for when she gets cornered by a creeper: She disconnects from the server and respawns back in a safe place. Letting her, if I understand correctly, keep everything she'd collected and not lose it like she would if she died.
Just about the only time he does something she really needs, it's when he builds the bridge to catch her when she falls in the lava - but you can fall into lava by accidentally mining out under your own feet during the day, too, and that's a mistake anyone could make.

Date: 2014-02-11 09:40 pm (UTC)On the plus side, if you blowup and die (not always a certainty if you have armor), much of your stuff will fall to the ground. If no one is there to observe _that_, it will linger timelessly too, and with luck you can run into the area and get it back. Tho this does often lead to a series of short sharp deaths as they run back into a dangerous area to try and get their stuff while poorly equipped from respawning.
Its one of the eerie things the game can throw at you, to be wandering through wilderness, far from anyone else and come across the scattered remnants of a fallen player who hasn't bothered returning to get their stuff.

Date: 2014-02-11 12:38 pm (UTC)Night is actually the best time to mine as you can't do anything else at night. Mining tunnels are a lot safer than the surface at night.
