Republicans: Corporations can do anything they want, *except* allow their workers to unionise.

Let's make this perfectly clear: Volkswagen *wants* the union. They *want* their plant workers to be unionised. They're happily cooperating with the union because they feel it will be better for their workers, and thus better for the employer, for their workers to be unionised.

And the Republicans are trying to stop it, because government regulation of industry is TOTALLY A GOOD THING as long as you're fucking the worker and keeping a company from treating their workers fairly.

no, when haymarket replays itself, it'll be called domestic terrorism, and some authoritarian asshat will try and get unions classified as terror groups.

Christ, i wish i was kidding.

Sadly true. It kind of happened with the NATO protests: stoner anarchist-wannabes who had gathered some beer bottles and gasoline were tried as if they were Al-Qaeda level conspirators.

That's because the Republicans would like to go back to the Victorian period, where workers were lucky to get a single day off, and where children could be put to work in factories. Fucking fuck.

I mean, I think the UAW is kind of a shitty union, and this kind of union structure can often benefit the company more than the workers, but the fact that it's being opposed by Republicans... Can't some Volkswagen exec take this dude aside and be like "look Bob, this means a steadier labour labor situation where we get some say, and the chumps employees feel that they have a say."
