Cool, and fortunate that the language seems to be very heavily Mediterranean influenced, at least in the naming of plants. If this was an invented script, the professional quality of the manuscript suggests to me the employ of a scribe or monk, possibly an envoy from the church, or a member of the community that is also a scribe.
