Remember how livejournal pages stay in a "loading" state forever, even for "ad-free" accounts, because of ads that are failing to load because as a smart internet user you run an adblocker?

Here's a greasemonkey script to kill it. Taken from the comments to that entry.

I run an adblocker but I don't get that issue. Is it because I'm also blocking javascript?

Not sure - I also run NoScript, and have been having the problem since... uh.... whenever I complained about it before.

I run ScriptSafe, possibly it runs differently? Oh, also I'm in Chrome and not Firefox. I imagine you're using Firefox based on your previous post, so that might be it.

I run Firefox 23 with JS blocked by "Quickjava 1.8.1.1", I don't have issues with pages that don't load on LJ. If something requires JS for me to see it on LJ, that something can go jump into the lake, and that includes YT embeds using "iframe" script.

Same here - Firefox with AdBlockPlus and NoScript, with some bits of LJ white-listed, and I don't get the problem. Strange ...

Presumably. Every page, even "ad-free" pages from "ad-less" accounts, tries to leak a bunch of information to a Russian spam network and display "hidden" ads. People who block ads and disable scripting don't leak the information, but the page fails to load.

It's a Greasemonkey script. You run it, in Greasemonkey.

(Greasemonkey is a Firefox add-on. It runs anything you tell it to - in this case, "make the ad crap FUCK OFF" before loading the ad crap.)
