As I understand it, Cage's intention for the work was that, in a live performance, the audience would be forced to listen to all the tiny background sounds going on - which would constitute the actual performance. It wouldn't be 4 minutes and 33 seconds of total silence, just silence from the performers. So putting the work up on Youtube would just mean putting up 4'33" of silence, leaving you to listen to your computer fan humming, the bloke upstairs stamping around, the traffic roaring outside etc.
