The iPhone 6 is the Nexus 4, already severals years out of date and with obsolete crapware instead of a modern OS.
The Nexus 4/iPhone 6 was revolutionary, several years ago. There's been many revolutions since then and the best opinion one could have about a current iPhone 6 buyer is "pity".

I bet...

Date: 2014-09-21 06:19 am (UTC)That's bigger than an ipod touch, of course. If you want something of that form factor, your best bet might be to buy a phone and use it only on wifi. A modern smartphone's wifi functions work independently of cellular service; just yank the sim and any iphone is effectively an ipod touch. The nexus 5 can be had for around $300 I believe.

Date: 2014-09-21 06:58 am (UTC)It was handy when we went to a Fijian resort, as I read a different book on it than the new phone, and would swap if one of them was low on power (have never got around to sharing bookmarks through Dropbox or whatever). And whichever was closest was fine for low-demand web browsing (e.g. Feedly) on wifi (we had a tablet if we wanted a bigger screen).
A second-hand iphone is an option, so long as it will run a available version of iTunes that will interface with where your mp3's are. Android is bit more flexible in this regard?
Aren't there cheap, decent WinPhones too?

Date: 2014-09-21 10:01 am (UTC)The 2012 Nexus 4 was fine, but it's hardly identical to an iPhone 5 let alone the 6. They couldn't possibly have made one and charge the price they wanted to. For the price point, it does well. Except for the camera, because they went with a really awful sensor package that let them quote 8mp, but is full of noise.
When you say 'Identical in every respect', and it's not, it kind of looks like you're either trolling, or succumbing to your own fanboy side.

Date: 2014-09-21 01:00 pm (UTC)A phone from 2014 that didn't have a better processor and camera than one from 2012 would be unusual. You don't get points for keeping up with Moore's Law, and you don't get points for beating a 2 year old device. In the mean time, when the "brand new features" that you're touting to the world as revolutionary are barely as good as the ones on that 2yo device? That's mockworthy.
(also: "Hold it in your hand and you'll agree that it feels absolutely premium. " yeah no, article wrtier. iPhones feel fat, stubby, blocky, clunky, heavy, and awkward, and they waste an annoying amount of screen space on a pointless frontside hardware button - I generally don't think of that as "premium". Definitely different than the Nexus, though.)
