Most excellent. Hopefully we won't dull these into uselessness with over-prescription.

It's human nature; you can't avoid it.

(I've had more than one doctor try to prescribe me antibiotics for a viral infection. [facepalm])

Doctors do it because people demand it. They get a wee bit of a sniffle, they go in to their GP and if hey don't come out with amoxycillin they're all up in arms. There are of course efforts to educate people on this, but there's only so much you can do.

I wonder how many of these people are also anti-vac? Has a study been done? There's got to be funding for one somewhere. Me, I'll have my flu shot and only ask for antibiotics when I know full well I've got something that needs it.

As nice as that is - and don't get me wrong, new antibiotic that's effective against TB and MRSA, that's nice as hell - they're really burying the lede.

We have previously been able to culture ~1% of soil bacteria strains. With this new iChip method, we are able to culture ~50% of soil bacteria strains. This is huge. This is way bigger than just a new antibiotic.
