Doc: "Now that you're using fluoxetine to treat your depression and anxiety, you should swap to paracetamol instead..."
Result: Two and half years of serious downward mood escalation.
Last winter I had to swap back to ibuprofen, because paracetamol doesn't do jack or shit for my pain management, and I had that bad pains which prevented normal activities.
Result: instant mood improvement and not just of the sort "oh gods pain has stopped now".
Afterward: found a paper that suggests ibuprofen may enhance fluoxetine's effects as well, but more studies are needed.
This isn't based on field observation but clinical trials; they didn't test with T1s, T2s, etc. They tested with the plain drug; this isn't the combo opiate. It could have an interesting effect when combined... but brain chemistry being what it is, one could also block the other, or interfere with the other.
Regardless, I'm not thrilled by this - I can't take any of the typical NSAIDs.
