I can't see anything. Is there an article or post about this?

If you allow websites to install arbitrary malware on your computer, you see the Washington Post. If you do NOT allow websites to install arbitrary malware, you see a "the washington post was unable to install malware on your computer. Fuck you." message.

I'm looking at the mobile site.

I worked in DC for 11 years, and the Post was my go-to paper, so I may have already accepted whatever-it-is.

Can you expand on what the malware is/does? :)

It was a "you're blocking ads! Click here to install an ad program!" message.

Ah, gotcha.

How strange -- I use AdBlock and haven't run into this behavior, but if . . . *aha*, now that I'm back at my computer, it's showing up.

This appears to be new since the last time I looked at the front page. It only appears on the desktop version.

I generally read the Post from e-mail subscriptions to various sections -- if you follow this link, it gives you a pop-up about the adblocker, but if you click the "X", it closes the pop-up and allows you to read the story.

With that said, fuck 'em for doing it!

I got a "The Washington Post was not able to sign you up for our spam mailing list, fuck you" instead, what does that mean?

PS: If you didn't see the "FUCK YOU" message, your computer is infected with malware.

Could you perhaps expand on that?

This might be OS or geography dependent, as I don't allow anyone to install anything and don't see it.

I get a pop-up telling me to disable my ad-blocker (um, no) in order to read the page, but I tell it to go away and it then displays the page. Or *a* page, anyway.

How did you tell it to go away? I got no option other than to provide an email address and agree to terms and conditions.

It was just a box with an X in the corner and a link to a sign-up page. Ticked the X and it went away. I'm using AdBlock and Ghostery.

I have Ghostery and uBlock installed, and I don't see the pop-up, I just get the page.

I can't say I've ever seen that, but I also have adblock with javascript turned off. That seems to head off a lot of that kind of shit.

My experience, too. have AdBlock installed, seeing the page, not seeing any ads, didn't install anything.
