The 2015 Ig Nobel Award Winners!

Some particular highlights:

CHEMISTRY: "Shear-Stress-Mediated Refolding of Proteins from Aggregates and Inclusion Bodies," by which they mean "figured out how to unboil an egg."

LITERATURE: the word "huh?" (or its equivalent) seems to exist in every human language and they're not sure why.

ECONOMICS: Offering police officers cash bonuses if they refuse bribes.

Personal favorite tied between:

MANAGEMENT PRIZE — for discovering that many business leaders developed in childhood a fondness for risk-taking, when they experienced natural disasters (such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, and wildfires) that — for them — had no dire personal consequences.

and

DIAGNOSTIC MEDICINE PRIZE — for determining that acute appendicitis can be accurately diagnosed by the amount of pain evident when the patient is driven over speed bumps.

You have to admire the diligence of the guy who arranged to be stung on the shaft of the penis before declaring it one of the most painful places to be stung. I think most people would have just taken that for a given.
