...WOW.

*jawdrop*

Not a fan of GS in recent decades for many reasons, but HOLY SHIT, this is so incredibly gross.

Young women (or not-so-young women, like myself) are perfectly capable of *voting on the issues*, as it turns out -- and I prefer Bernie's platform and voting record to Hillary's.

Yeah, it seems she isn't aware Hillary is bought and paid for by industry, no?

(Can you say fracking (http://grist.org/climate-energy/where-does-hillary-clinton-stand-on-fracking/)?)

Possibly, but I think it's more likely she is buying into the system. Maybe even without her realising it.

"Women loose power as they age", that's kind of news to me. Does she mean "aren't considered as pretty by the culture at large"...? I think we've already proven that being "beautiful" gets you exactly nowhere in politics, or the halls of power would be filled with supermodels instead of old men.

I'm wondering if Steinem is generalising from her own experience. One of the things that made her famous early on was "infiltrating" the Playboy mansion by posing as a bunny and writing about how they were mistreated.

Given the way shitty patriarchal culture treats women in their 70s versus women who look like they pose for Playboy (as Steinem did in the early 1960s)? I wouldn't be surprised if she feels more overlooked now than, say, 30 years ago, and thinks that's universal.

I've dedicated myself to treating my younger peers as equals. It's easy to be patronizing. Listening and reflecting back the good things you hear takes a bit more patience but the rewards are great.
