To put that in context, it's probably a semi-trailer full of bee hives, loaded up and ready to move to a site for contract pollination services. So they stole a trailer of bees, which is less implausible than milllllliiiooonns of them.
Reminds me of a story I heard from a railway employee, from a few years ago when commodity prices spiked. These guys stole a bunch of cabling from the railway line, with the view to melting down and reselling the valuable copper. Problem is, the cabling they'd stolen was in fact fibre optics, which is basically posh sand and worth absolutely bugger all.
