[(212-77) * 1 * 10] BTU = 1350 BTU if you're talking about SATP and British/Imperial gallons, where 1 ImpG = 10 lbs.
Personally, I don't find [(373 - 298) * 4.184 * 1000] for the equivalent Metric problem as particularly rolling off the tongue.

Couple weeks ago I had to work out how much chemicals I had to add to the pool water. Instructions: "1 tab per 1,000 litres"
Since the pool is 8x4m, and about 1.5m deep, it contains about 48m³ of water (8*4*1.5), hence 48,000 litres, hence 48 tabs.
Do that in feet, inches and gallons (and I'll make it easy: 1 tab per 250 gallons, close enough).
The metric system is so nice because
it all makes sense
