Yeah, I got it eventually. My issue was by starting one way, I would get super-close, just one function away from the solution.... but either I didn't have that function or I'd already used it.
By rejecting my initial guesses and starting over, I found the right way.
I also got 2-3! The trick for me was to think in terms of how many blocks you start with versus how many are in the solution, and figure out how to make that math work. It's a bastard of a puzzle though.
First, make it the proper width, then add bricks so you get the heights needed, then remove unneeded bricks, and then switch colours. The last two steps can be done in any order.
