Oct. 10th, 2016 04:31 pmMormon church endorses Clinton.
(Yes, both the Mormon church and the Deseret News *claim* they're independent, but they're not and never have been. The biggest subfaction of the LDS Church owns the newspaper, and the newspaper does not publish anything without church approval.)

Date: 2016-10-11 12:51 am (UTC)(They've spent a TON of money lobbying against things like same-sex marriage and other "moral" issues that they take a disapproving stance on, so the Democrats tend to be treated as their mortal enemies, since we're socially liberal.)
OTOH, it's possible that they got enough pressure from their membership being appalled by Trump's vulgarity (not necessarily the fact that he's a racist, misogynist abuser, but the fact that he was *crass* about it), that the LDS leadership decided that he couldn't credibly be their family-values candidate.
There's a huge amount of pressure for Mormons to vote as a bloc, though, so I'd really be surprised if the LDS Church actually was okay with the Deseret News posting the editorial.
(I could be wrong, but I have a lot of ex-Mormon friends -- so many people leave the LDS Church and turn into Goths for some reason, LOL -- and that's the sentiment I've been getting from them.)
