An ass? None of them have talked to Mike about their bidding on the toy, but he'd have to be blind to miss Peejee being upset and wondering why. I'm betting Mike is trying to do exactly what Aubrey is doing - he's buying the toy to make Peejee happy, to save it from the furries - and Mike's sitting there going "Dammit! That dirty fucking furry keeps outbidding me! This is getting expensive!"
It's a cliche, but that's bvecause it's an understandable situation, and it's inherently funny.
I agree about Mike. And he'd not want to talk about it with anyone so that he surprise Peejee with it. When he finds out that Aubrey was the other bidder, he'll be fuming.
