Gotta love the NRA.
Mar. 28th, 2005 01:20 pm"I'm not saying that that means every teacher should have a gun or not, but what I am saying is we need to look at all the options at what will truly protect the students,"
The classic "Fewer people would get shot if everyone had a gun" argument, this time coming from the VP of the NRA.
See, I disagree with
aimisdirty. I think the solution *is* less guns. I also know this solution is impractical, and so "more guns, given to the right people" becomes an acceptable compromsie - but, dammit, "the right people" is a CRITICAL FUCKING PART OF THAT.
I remember my high-school teachers. I don't trust most them to *drive*, why the fuck would anyone want them to have guns?

I have passed a use of force training course (Non LE-specific), in order to qualify for my ATC (Authorization To Carry). It involves exceeding the marksmanship/use of force standards set out for LEOs. You cannot pass these courses unless you are mature and responsible. About 95 percent of the people I know would not have a hope of ever passing it. Over half of the class was failed.
You CAN allow people to carry in self-defense safely. Anyone who says otherwise does not know what they are talking about, or they are being outright deceptive.
