I don't believe that counts. They want the whole original magazine, in near-mint condition, not a reprint. They've GOT reprints.

That is the original magazine. Of course, it's bound into a book with a bunch of other issues...

That's why I said "If only I were a mercenary". They'd send him a photocopy for substantially less.

"Collection of articles reprinted from Electronics magazine" would tend to imply otherwise - and "bound into a book" would also mean that it's not an original copy of the original magazine in mint-condition original format.

Not necessarily. When I was editing our university newspaper, we would grab one of each of the original issues that was printed that year and have them bound.

They treat IEEE Journals the same way in the University library here. About the only thing you wouldn't see is the spine of hte magazine.

I stand corrected.

Well, then, for 10 grand I think that book needs to lose a little weight.

Arg, that link is incorrect. It worked when I checked it previously, so I must've made a mistake somewhere.

In any case, I just heard this morning that we're pulling the volume containing that issue and storing it elsewhere for safekeeping. Presumably if someone asks for it, we'll offer to copy whatever article they're ostensibly looking for, rather than let them have the original.

Stanford's doing the same thing.
