Apr. 21st, 2005 02:05 pmProfessor Jasper Rine lectures at UC Berkeley. Recently his laptop was stolen by a thief who was after exam data. Unfortunately for the thief, Professor Rine had some important stuff on that laptop.
Various forms of audio and a transcript are available of the Professor's speech to his class about the theft.

Date: 2005-04-22 11:23 am (UTC)Except that's precisley where he screwed up to the point of obviousness. He claims MS called him within 15 minutes of installing that same version on another computer. They don't call you when you try to activate the same copy of XP on two computers. They just don't let you activate it - great big error message.
I would expect a UC Berkeley professor to do better than that - the school is stupid famous for tech.
