I guess the question, then, is did he post from home or did he post from school computers?
If he posted from school, he's shit outta luck as far as I'm concerned. Most schools require you to sign a "code of conduct" that, among other things, requires that you don't use school computers or internet access to post anything considered profane, obscene, libelous, threatening, etc.
Since the post was brought to the attention of the school by "persons unknown", and "school computer" is the only conceivable way they could justify the actions, I'm betting it's not a school computer.
