Indian rapist suggests that he could get a lighter sentence if he marries the victim, because "no one would be ready to due to the stigma".

The victim said: "I will not marry him. It is horrible, audacious. He should be given the severest punishment. He should be hanged so that such an horrendous is not repeated with any other girl."

Bhura raped the woman in September 2003 in a private room at a hospital in Delhi.

He gouged her right eye and scarred the woman's face. She has undergone surgery four times since the attack.

While not normally a proponent of eye-for-an-eye justice, I find myself suddenly in favour of sharing the stigma of being scarred and raped.

Now, how I'm going to get myself, a baling hook, and a chainsaw to India before my natural gentleness returns...
