Now THAT is takeout.
May. 5th, 2005 08:30 amStaff at a Thai restaurant in William Shakespeare's home town in England were stunned to receive an order from the future king of Thailand, nearly 9 600 kilometres away.
Officials at the Thai embassy said Friday that a secretary of Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn had asked for 350 items of cuisine to be flown the 9 600 kilometres from Britain to his royal palace.
A "gobsmacked" spokesperson for the Thai Kingdom restaurant in Stratford upon Avon, central England, said the unusual order was placed after the prince, 49, visited it last month during a visit to Britain.
The embassy officials then travelled to the picturesque town last week to pick up the order.
