Spider-Man movie news!

#1: Thomas Haden Church has been signed as a villain in 3, but Raimi and the studio are keeping quiet which one, for now.

Rumour has it that he'd be Sandman. This seems unlikely, because Sandman isn't exactly one of the iconic villains - and they can't do the Sinister Six because
A) Multi-villain movies suck. See: Every Batman sequel
B) They'd need to introduce Sandman, Shocker, Electro, Vulture, and Mysterio - and Doctor Octopus is dead.

My bets are on Electro, Venom, or a non-superpowered villain. Given Curt Connors in 1 and 2, the Lizard would be a gimme, if he hadn't been played by Dylan Baker.

#2: Sam Raimi has said that Sony is talking abuot making a total of 6 Spider-Man films, and he's happy to direct the second three, too.

From what I recall, back when this first came up, he was probably going to be Venom. Which given that Brock was at least mentioned in the 1st movie seems likely. I do wonder what explanation Raimi would come up with for symbiote, since the original one requires WAAAAY to much Marvel back-story to work...

Maybe the Ult. Spidey version where the symbiote was created...

i really doubt they'd do the original story, cause they seem to be trying to stya more "down to earth" with their movies. ntoice hwo the x-men have NO mention of the Shiar (even though the blackbird was built using their technology). With that beign the case, i really doubt they'd want to brign in the Beyonder and the Secret Wars (although i really did like that series).

although it would be cool if they had him change costume, then do a cliff hanger where soem kidn of accident happens and the next movie it comes ot life...

I thought the Blackbird was only /updated/ with Shi'ar technology?

I mean, I'm pretty sure they had it back when the second team was assembled to rescue the original X-Men, which was before the Shi'ar's first appearance (though only by a couple of issues), and I don't recall them retconning in an explanation about the Blackbird.

hmm yeah.. i think it did exist before hand, but i'm 99% certain the cloaking device was Shiar tech.

I think I heard it was going to be Sandman, and that guy sure looks like him.

Also, Batman Returns did not suck, but I know you have an irrational hatred of all things Batman, so I'll let it go.
