You gotta be kidding me. You laud the performances and story of The Mummy, but consider the other Batman films to be sucky? I'm with you on Batman and Robin, and mostly with you on Batman Forever, but Returns and the original were totally cool.
I mean, sometime after being 10 years old? Watch it again. The movie blows dead bears. It's a great example of a comic-book movie being made before anyone figured out how to make comic-books into movies, just like the original Adam West Batman movie and the Punisher with Dolph Lundgren.
Not even Jack Nicholson could save that turkey. The second was better, but "better" is not the same as "remotely near as good as Spiderman", or even "on par with X-men".
I'd be happy for "on par with X-men", and Ken Watanabe and Christian Bale are always good things to have in a film.
Maybe I'm dating myself here, but I was 13 when it was released so every single time I've watched it, it was after being 10 years old. And it's still better than The Mummy, and it still doesn't suck. I'm going with zen on this one, you must have been hit in the head recently. Especially if you're comparing Batman to Dolph Lundgren's version of The Punisher.

Anyway, Crane might be there in the same way that Curt Connors and Eddie Brock keep shoing up in Spiderman.
Or he might be a real villain.
