The ethnically divided Bosnian city of Mostar has agreed to erect a new symbol of unity -- a statue of kung fu legend Bruce Lee, worshipped by Muslims, Serbs and Croats.

I have to go with [livejournal.com profile] rimrunner on this one (Master Ree and Master Lee trained together, Lee brought TKD and every other Asian art into the 19th century by teaching them how to use the punch (which he learned from western prize fighters) and Master Lee taught him kicking (Chinese martial styles tend to keep kicks waist level or lower and only use one at a time, Japanese use high kicks but again, singly. TKD uses multiple kicks from knee to head level). No one can match Master Lee when it comes to the punch. He was so fast that even on film you couldn't capture him with the standard 24 FPS of motion picture cameras, and he could move a 200lb man several feet with a punch from a mere 6". The man was worthy of every bit of praise heaped upon him.

I do believe that Jesse has said that to this day he hasn't seen anyone else who can punch that fast.

He also has a lot of good things to say about this guy, who I once took a seminar from. I was impressed.
