[livejournal.com profile] torrain: What are you looking at?

Me: The creepy guys at realdoll.com have something new.

[livejournal.com profile] torrain: Realdoll - that sounds familiar. Is that the guy who made an amusement park full of women you could beat up who all looked like his ex-wife?

Me: [. . .] <---- [Editor's Note. This is extremely rare]

[livejournal.com profile] torrain: Judging from your expression, probably not. So what's realdoll.com?

Me: ... uh, it's the people who sell the ultrarealistic $4000 sex dolls.

[livejournal.com profile] torrain: Oh. That's... wait. *$4000*?

Me: Yes.

[livejournal.com profile] torrain: Does it COOK?

Apparently it's now $6500.

The have a male realdoll (yes, just one), and his neck looks entirely wrong. (I realize there are design considerations which may have necessitated this, but still.)

Design considerations my buttocks. If they can make a delicate female neck that can support the doll head, they can make a stouter male neck that doesn't look totally deformed.

No, no, design considerations:

Female pathetic losers can always get sex if they want it from male pathetic losers.

Gay male pathetic losers can always get sex by becoming a furry.

So the market for *male* realdolls is extraordinarily small to begin with, so why spend much time and effort designing them?

THAT kind of design consideration.

Way to bash the furries in there.

I find it helps to rememebr that John defines furry as "socially inept and desperate individual who is willing to say they're part animal in order to find acceptance in a social group", rather than "individual who is interested in depictions of anthropomorphic animals or self-identifies as animal on some level".

Not "willing to say", and not "to find acceptance in a social group."

"Believes".

The desperation for acceptance is a side effect, not a root cause.

As long as fursuiters and the word "yiff" still exist, no matter how nasty I get there will be people who deserve it and more.

I find that oddly comforting.

I wasn't thinking of it supporting the weight. I was thinking of the hole being encased in too much silicone to be as flexible as the customer expects.

The upper torsos of the female are more slender, and the shoulders slope. This means that the abnormally long necks aren't quite as evident (the hair helps with this too, I think), and I suspect it might also mean that the hole can go into the torso a little way without being surrounded by enough of a thickness of silicone to become unflexible. With the bulk they put on the male torso, the longer neck stands out a lot more, and it might not be possible to sink the hole into the torso without having it loose some flexibility at the end.

For $4000, it better do the ironing and scrub toilets, too.

What gets me is that it's described as "less expensive than the alternative".

Mind you, this might actually be true. I cannot speak to the expenses of tissue preservation and taxidermy.

BAHAHA!

Further proof that the way to a man's heart might occasionally be through his libido, but more often, it's through his stomach.

Woman's heart, in this case.

But yes.

For that kind of money, will it...

So, my usual purposely inappropriate reaction to exceedingly expensive frivolities can finally get answered with 'yes'.

Inquiring minds: what's the new thing? I know they released an anime-style face and body recently, which is freaky beyond all description. I also ran it by my boyfriend, and he also found it freaky, so I know it's not just a girl-type reaction.

The Otaku's Paradise one is realyl creepy, yes, but what I was going "YIKES!" over was the new quadruple-amputee one.

that should be cheaper. Seriouly, thin of the material savings

I know some guys for go for that (you know, part of a power domination fantasy.. I'll stop there since logistics are painful)

The 'buttocks and vagina only' and torso-only variants are, I think, more in the nature of cost savings than actually depicting amputees.
