Yes. Condoms are ancient. Cheap, available condoms that are not made of sheep intestine (like any other sausage casing) are a relatively recent invention, though.
WWII had condoms. They were called various crude names alluding to the offspring of mating with truck tires because they weren't exactly up to today's latex standards... but they existed.

But these posters never say how the girls get these diseases in the first place. What? They were born poor, desperate and diseased? Ok, I realize I am generalizing.
