Iowa republicans blocking passage of school anti-bullying law, because it would *also* outlaw bullying homosexuals

And we can't have that. It's okay to outlaw beating up straight white kids, but it's UN-AMERICAN for those damn faggots to not get their asses kicked every day!

English demonstrate a working cure for Type 1 Diabetes.

After receiving insulin-making cells from the pancreases of dead donors, Richard Lane of Bromley, Kent, no longer needs insulin injections.
The King's College Hospital team said the breakthrough was hugely exciting for people with type 1 diabetes.

But the technique is not perfect. Many patients still require top-up insulin.
Two other UK patients who have been treated with the procedure still need small doses of insulin.
Canadian researchers were the first to demonstrate that people with type 1 diabetes could remain free of insulin injections after the treatment was complete.

For the transplant, healthy islet cells are taken from donor pancreases and injected into the patient's liver. Once there, they develop their own blood supply and begin to produce insulin.

"Given that sports may very well foster pagan and humanistic attitudes, I urge parents to think deeply about this issue and about whether or not any members of their families should participate in organized sports programs. As a minimum, I hope you will agree with me that we should keep our daughters away from competitive sports and spend our time training them how to be Biblically feminine women, wives and mothers."

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Here is one more reason why [livejournal.com profile] qwantz can awesome.

I would love to build a digital clock in base 8. It would be the best clock ever! It would go down like this:

1 o'clock - here people would be sleeping
2
3
4
5
6
7 - here they'd get up
10 - here people would get confused and go "oh well, looks like it's almost time for lunch!"
11
12 - here they'd eat lunch
13 - here they'd freak out
14 - oh man

This photograph was taken in *1911*.

Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii recorded *three* monochromatic images on glass plates. These are black and white pictures, taken through filters - one red, one blue, one green - then used with a projector system to overlap them and produce colour photographs long before the invention of colour film.

His system was never this good - the American library of congress has been using computers to digitally overlay the plates in ways that Prokudin-Gorskii never could. Still, this is a photographic record of the Russian Empire, before the Revolution.

Freakish mutant two-headed kitten born.

The kitten has two mouths, two noses and four eyes. Teresa Morrison immediately called her veterinarian when it was born.

"He said he's never seen it. Never," Morrison said.

The kitten is nursing from its mother, which the vet said is a good sign.

"(She's) feeding off one mouth now; sometimes go to the other one, but he's not getting it open," Morrison said.
The vet told Morrison he didn't know if the cat has one or two brains, but having one would give the cat a better chance to survive.

He said if the kitten lives 48 hours, he has a good chance of living a full life.

Wednesday morning, Morrison named the cat "Deuce."
