Maher Arar's case dismissed, with the judge accepting the US government's argument that
A) they don't need to tell you how they got their information or what the information is
B) There are no rules against torture,
C) They're behaving just like any civilised nation would.

The United Arab Emirates was one of only three countries in the world to officially recognize the Taliban as the legitimate government of Afghanistan. (the others were Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia, other US allies in the War On Terror).

According to the FBI, money for 9/11 hijackers was transferred through UAE banks.

The UAE has been a key transfer point of shipments of nuclear components to Iran, North Korea, and Lybia, and the Treasury Department reported in late 2001 that the UAE was not cooperating in efforts to track Osama Bin Laden's money.

The Bush Administration is handing control of seaports in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Miami, Baltimore and New Orleans to the United Arab Emirates.

Of those, 34 are suspected or confirmed outright murders by guards. 12 more were definitely killed unintentionally during torture, and 11 more are suspected of the same.
