I'm not a McCain supporter. I have great personal respect for the soldier, I have great personal respect for what he was able to survive, I have respect for him stepping forward and saying 'Waterboarding is torture, dumbasses'. Unfortunately in the last 18 months he's transformed into the archetypical republican presidential candidate which means he little enough resembles the man he was.
I'd have more respect for his "anti-torture" stance if he'd actaully voted, at any time, to make torture illegal, instead of voting 100% of the time to make it legal.
Despite McCain's reputation as a principled Republican, he's never done anything to actually *deserve* it. Unlike, say, Arlen Specter, who is dead wrong on several issues but at least can logically and consistently defend his positions.
Not giving him carte blanche, but there are times where actually speaking up about something gets you credit on some things. Not as much as backing it up mind you but you do get credit for being one of the few people in your party to say something about it.
Then there are other times where you speak up about something (torture is bad, support the troops, etc), are in a position to actually do (or vote towards doing) something about it, then don't do it.
the funny thing is my and my gf saw this speech, and she was like...watch some dumb ass say something about he flag...
and i was like: there is no ay people are that stupid...yeah, we to reaffirm my belief in humanity..
now granted we live in Michigan, so we are subjected to the Ohio flag more than most of the country..and from certain parts of Michigan i can clearly see the Columbus State House.
but seriously..whenever Michelle MAlkin is the VOICE OF REASON THERE IS A PROBLEM!
