If anything, I think this discussion has proven that I apparently know nothing about prostitutes. Sorry, I guess my life experiences have been too limited. I honestly do think it is much more likely that a prostitute would do those things than a random girl who met a random guy in a bar.

Oh, bah. You are a fan of logic, clearly you feel you know enough about prostitutes to make calls on what behaviour is indicative of one.

(Mind you, I've known people who have been going home from their day's work backstage, wearing their toolbelt, standing at a bus stop with a transfer, and reading a book--yes, all at once--to be propositioned as a prostitute. I mean, I'm agreeing that not everyone who thinks they can identify what behaviour indicates a prostitute has a clue. Not even people whose job it is to identify them.[1])

So, why do you think a woman with few resources (legal, particularly) who needs to put herself in dangerous situations for money would be more likely to put herself in an extremely dangerous situation which actively uproots her from her location? (As opposed to, say, a woman who does have access to recourse and does not have reason to expect danger; or a woman who has no recourse handy but does also not need to work in the area and is not in a role which actively puts her in a dangerous situation?)

Or were you working under the impression that prostitutes do dangerous things for fun? In that case, why would they bother charging money? It's probably much easier to get picked up and inconvenienced if you don't charge for it.

I'm not following your logic, here.

My understanding is that since prostitutes are not respected by general society, and what they do is illegal in most places (wrongly so, in my opinion), they are forced to do things in a shady manner and put themselves in dangerous or humiliating situations because they think that's the only way they can make money. Or they think they will make MORE money by doing weird and/or unsafe things.

And I would add that I don't think this just applies to female prostitutes, which is why the misogyny accusations really throw me for a loop.
