Me: I'm sorting nerds. You know that big box of them I got? It was assorted, and that means all the flavours are mixed together. So I'm sorting them.

torrain: You have little baggies and everything!

Me: Well, yeah. How else should I store them? I don't have a spare little tupperware thing with partitions, and cleaning one of the toolbox trays would be overkill and I'd have no place to keep my tools.

torrain: This is adorable.

torrain: (on phone) Mo, my husband is sorting half a pound of nerds by colour.

Me: FLAVOUR.

torrain: (on phone) Oh, he says by flavour. But he's sorting nerds.

Me: This is normal. Shut up.

I really have to know the reason now. Do you get cravings for certain flavours only? Do you not like the taste when the flavours are mixed? Do you use them for cooking or decoration or some other activity where having the colours/flavours separate is preferable? What gave you the idea to separate them in the first place and why do you persist?

I don't like mixing the flavours. It just tastes like discordant sugar when you do that, and eating them one at a time is a little disappointing too since they're so small.

So, having sorted them, I eat whichever flavour I want whenever I want that flavour.

That is awesome on so many levels

1. I have NEVER seen a half pound of Nerds.

2. Sorting is awesome.

3. The phone conversation and the interjections were perfect. I laughed to hard!

I think this would be something I would do if I ever came upon a large amount of nerds. Hell, when I get just the boxes that have two colors/ flavors. I have to take out the nomads that are on the wrong side and replace them on their own side.

Hi from metaquotes, I see in your userinfo that you like to know how new friendings found you.

This is fabulous, and totally normal. I haven't had nerds in ages but when I did I only buy the two flavour box and then empty them out to make sure I don't eat any before I remove the strays that somehow get on the wrong sides.

Way back in my first year of college, after first class I'd go buy a bag of skittles from the vending machine, take it with me to second class (which was a lecture class) and empty the bag on a piece of clean paper on my desk and sort them by flavour, save the green ones to give to my best friend after class, then eat the rest equally while listening to the lecture.
