Stephen Moffat *lost*?

Well, okay, that's possible, who'd he lose to...

To Joss Fucking Whedon?

Fandom, you have no taste.

PS: Foglio, FUCK YES.

I am rubber, you are glue....

(Actually, I'd be hard pressed to say whether I liked "Silence in the Library" or "Dr. Horrible" more. I might give Dr. Horrible the edge, because Silence was a little too derivative of "The Time Traveler's Wife".)

I think that the Who vote may have been split, what with "Silence" and "Turn Left" in the ballot.

Neither is really anything close to sane, but it's possible to be deluded about Whedon.

Are you familiar, at all, with the nonfiction works of Orson Scott Card? How about with the basic tenets of Mormonism?

Nonfiction works? No.

Basic tenets of Mormonism? Some of them. I had some Mormon neighbors when I was a kid. I don't understand the appeal of the magic underwear, but I am casually familiar with some of their beliefs.

Card's books aren't the problem. (Or, his earlier books...Empire and company, which compare An Inconvenient Truth to the Unabomber Manifesto, are more problematic. Still, not the real problem.)

Card's books ARE the problem.

His 4-part heroic biopic of Adolf Hitler, wherein Hitler is redeemed thorugh the miracle of Mormon Theology? That's a fucking problem, man.

SF fandom has the brainworms. I don't know if that's always been the case, but I think it's likely. Few years back, I reread a bunch of the stuff I loved as a preteen/teenager. Large swaths of it were dreck. *coughHeinleincough*

And still, day of, I maintain my right to kibbutz about Whedon piggbacking on the competency of his cast to make a mediocre script in the hands of a deeply sub-par[1] director beat out a good script well-presented by a good director for the award.

[1]: deeply sub-zero, really.

Wait. Woahwoahwoah, it beat "The Constant"?!?! That's a crime. Screw all the other potentials, that should have been the winner hands down. No Whedon, no Moffat, just that. In a series like Lost to have an episode like that which stands out so far above the others is a testament to just how good that episode is. The Constant FTW.

Also: Suckers!

Cool on Foglio! I MUST read anything called "Shoggoths in Bloom" just to see if it lives up to the coolness of the title.
