"marriage" is a status legally equivalent to marriage.

Texas banned marriage.

I wondered why this had come up again, because I remember when theweaselking linked to it. Should've guessed it had to do with a political campaign. (I've been avoiding the news lately. Which makes me a less well-informed citizen, but also less likely to jump off the Aurora Bridge this winter, so, y'know.)
