Steam's got a ton of games on sale.

Defense Grid, a Perfectly Acceptable Tower Defense Game, is $2.50. Or $15.00 if you buy ten copies.

Left 4 Dead 2: $20. Or $25 for *six copies*.

If you're that kind of crazy, Eve is $5 for the first month. Of course, if you're that kind of crazy, you not only already have this, but you'll probably buy a couple of these just so you can have more characters running at once.

The specials change every day. "Today" has about four hours left - it'll swap about 1pm EST.

Oh, and they've currently got A Promotion: Make a wishlist on your Steam account, because every day 30 people win their top 5 of their wishlist, free.

As a certified coward who nevertheless is intrigued by Left4Dead 2, if anyone fancies donating one of their six copies to a geek couple (one fascinated by zombies, one repelled and yet fascinated by them), then please let me know :D

They're also running an Indie Story Pack that includes Recettear, Puzzle Agent, and three other little games for $5. Recettear usually runs $20 and was worth it at that price.

EVE always seems to me like this game with a huge amount of unique drama and storyline that I would never get to experience because I would just be busy getting jacked by pirates while trying to mine.

There are plenty of corps who take noobs y'know; even corps who aren't just gonna rip you off! If you're interested in the PvE game, you can stay in hi-sec for ages to figure stuff out before you go anywhere dangerous. Yes, huge portions of the systems are unsafe for noobs, but Empire is large and safe unless you afk with billions of isk worth of stuff.

What with them removing learning skills and whatnot right now is a bit messy for new characters though, not the best time.
