So, today is the last day of Steam's semi-annual sale.

Today is all repeat deals: Portal 2 for 50% off, Borderlands for 75% off, Fallout New Vegas for 70% off, GTA4 Complete for $10, AssBro As The Kids Are Calling It These Days for 50% off.

The sales will probably be this good again in December. Until then, no, you're NOT going to see these games for this cheap, and they really are excellent games.

Tonight's date night with [livejournal.com profile] mr_rubix has partially consisted of him putting Portal 2 up on his big-screen TV for our mutual enjoyment :D

(My hands aren't up to most video games, but I do love to watch!)

I finally picked up Magicka in the sale a couple of days ago, and have been having great fun with it.

I believe Best Buy has New Vegas for $10 instead of Steam's $15, or did earlier this week.

AssBro 1 is an excellent game? I've heard different..

Magicka is tempting, I must admit.

I've heard that Brotherhood (which is AssBro As The Kids Are Calling It These Days) is exactly like 2, but with some interface tweaks and multiplayer support.

And Assassin's Creed 2 was a fun game.

1 was a fun game too, but it did suffer a bit.

Ahhhh, I got Creed and Brotherhood mixed up. A friend told me that AC1 was a bore, and I remember it being on sale on Steam. My bad.

1 was a fun game, too. However, it suffered a little from Far Cry 2's disease (generic-ish side missions, all over the map) and it was a little too easy to have your directional control be SLIGHTLY off and leap into thin air by accident.

Also, all the AC series are modern UBI games, so they have the annoying-ass modern UBI DRM: Constant internet connection required, save files stored in the cloud, if your internet connection drops your game closes and you lose everything since your last save. However, while this is annoying as hell, it's an annoyance I was willing to put up with in the cheapass versions of the game.

Damn, I forgot about the Ubi problem before I bought 2 and AssBro. Oh well.

If I actually download all the things I bought off Steam, I'll end up paying more in bandwidth fees than I did for the actual games. I have to wait until my limit resets at the end of the month before I can get GTA4.

I can't tell if this speaks more to the success of the summer sale, or the avarice of my ISP.

Why not both?

(I actually have to delete things before I'll have room for the Total War pack that Kevin bought me. It's *40 GB*.)

I'd probably be running into that problem if the sale lasted much longer.

Disturbing thought: it would be far cheaper, by an order of magnitude, if I could convince Valve to burn the data to a CD and mail it to me. Possibly also faster if done from within Ontario.
