And MSN messenger was far further down the path of dying; everyone now uses gChat or Facebook's chat, because they're on one or both of those sites. Not many people are still on Hotmail, and those that are, are the ones who don't use messengers much.

2) MSN Messenger doesn't do anything that there aren't three dozen other products doing better.
Neither of those are true about Google Reader.
