Me: "I'm watching a movie, and someone just said 'I could be bounded in a nutshell and count myself a king of infinite space, were it not that I have bad dreams.' Who's the speaker?"

[livejournal.com profile] torrain: "Hamlet!"

Me: "Nope! Freddy Kreuger."

[livejournal.com profile] torrain: "...."

Me: "You forgot he has an education too, didn't you."

A student (presumably possessed by Freddy) quoted the lines in one of Nancy's dreams in the first movie; is that what you mean?

I swear, the scene of Tina's body sliding away down the cross-hallway is probably one of the most quietly creepy ones in the entire franchise.

Turning the word "possessed" over in my mind, here. I mean, that suggests the student is actually in Nancy's dream as their own person (a schtick we don't see until later in the series) and is under the control of Freddy, rather than Freddy just dressing up as them (the way he later dresses up as a hall monitor) in Nancy's dream.

I would suspect the latter is the case, but possibly I am just overanalyzing a word choice, here.

Wasn't Freddy, it was a student in Nancy's dream at school. Bitch don't play, I am all over Nightmare On Elm Street. :P

That was totally Freddy speaking through the kid, just like the hall monitor was Freddy and the creepy little girls are Freddy and the annoying seatmate on the airplane is Freddy.

I'll concede that point, but just barely. Remember, he goes into THEIR dreams. It's their dreamscape but he can alter it to his design. So Nancy was dreaming of school, not surprising. It could have been just a bit of random Hamlet, but I'll admit it very well could have been Freddy beginning his torment.

The kid at the front is reading Julius Caesar until she falls asleeps, at which point it's dead affect, eye contact, and a Hamlet quote about bad dreams. I'm willing to blame Freddy.

...you know, I'd actually missed the Julius Caesar thing. Which I facepalm over.

Yes. Totally Freddy. (Also the voice distinctly changes.)

Have you seen the Rick And Morty episode with the Freddy Kreuger analog in it?
