I wonder if it's because news people have made fewer stupid errors or if I've just stopped noticing.

I googled CNN map failures and found Athens in sub-Saharan Africa, Germany labelled Iraq, London in Norwich, a weird conceptual confusion between Lebanon and Libya, all of the Czech Republic having turned into "Switzerland", Queensland in Tasmania, and an eastern Ukraine that had magically migrated to what looks like Pakistan. It was glorious.
